Known as the Valley of Glaciers, Manali on the northern edge of the Kullu Valley is one of the most popular hill resorts in India. The major treasure of Manali is its proximity to the snow clad peaks. With the Beas River flowing by its side and the superb view of the perennial snow covered mountains, Manali transports travel-weary tourists into the exalted heights of the Himalayas. Manali is also a popular honeymoon destination and focal point for numerous treks and mountaineering expeditions into the Soland Velley and over the Rohtang Pass into Lahual-Spiti.

Attractions

Hadimba Temple - Located in the middle of a forest, this 16 the century temple is built like a pagoda and famous for its exquisitely carved wooden doorways. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Hadimba, but no idol is enshrined and only a footprint on a stone is kept within. It is believed that Hadimba Goddess has been humanized by the people and made their own.

Vashist - Nestled on the left bank of River Beas, Vashist is renowned for its hor water springs and temples. It is a place where the water of hot sulphur springs renowned for their medicinal qualities has been piped into baths-including private deluxe ones. Here you can visit the Pyramidal stone temple dedicated to Vashist Muni and also the Temple of Lord Rama.

Jagatsukh - Jagatsukh, in the midst of a picturesque village, is famous for very old temples of Lord Shiva and Sandhya Gayatri. Here the elegant Gauri Shankar shrine built in the 8th century is the earliest surviving stone temple in the area.

Solang Valley - This splendid valley between Solang village and Beas Kund, offers the best view of glaciers and snow capped mountains. Generally recognize as the adventure country, it is the most sought after destination for numerous adventure activities. The valley also houses the Mountaineering Institute, which has installed a ski lift for training purpose. The skiing festival during winter is one of the most important attractions here.

Rohtang Pass - Located 51 km from Manali, the pass forms the gateway to Lahaul Spiti, Pangi and Leh valley just as Zojila pass is a gateway to Ladakh. The location offers skiing, trekking opportunity with a highest altitude of 4112 meters. The pass affords a wide spread Panoramic view of the mountain serenity, almost directly opposite the well defined Sonepani Glacier slightly left to the twin peaks of the Geypan.
